Professional development incorporates different types of facilitated learning opportunities. These range from informal conversations with colleagues, families, and friends, to college degrees, coursework, conferences, and work experience. All of these come together to shape our sense of professional persona. As we mature as professionals we also mature and develop on more personal levels, whether it’d be with family, friends, colleagues, mentors, and/or spouses. By constantly applying our experience to these ideals we are then able to focus and aid individuals in their journey of self-fulfillment and growth. This is why I see the duty to professional & personal development as an ideal that is crucial and important.
IIIR India is set on a fragile-unstable balance beam that is constantly changing. With change comes adaptability. I believe that to have a duty to our society means to encourage members that identify with specific communities to educate themselves and expand their knowledge into other groups, cultures, and backgrounds to be able to positively change and break stereotypes. I believe that everyone should foster his or her own sense of duty to society to be able to become as diverse and culturally aware as possible. By doing so, we will be able to put ourselves in any environment whilst growing both professionally and personally in hopes that we will take every experience with us to educate others.
